New 116RS on track for the first time

Our new RS pack for the 116 was finally out on track last week on the Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk. Bringing a range of upgrades including more power (135bhp), less weight, two tyre options (semi slick and full wet) and a full aero package consisting of front splitter, engine flat floor and full width rear wing the car is designed to compete in the 45 minute Road Sports endurance series in class D and the Hot Hatch Championship in class C.

We still have some work to do but in the first few laps team test driver Ed Raprager managed to beat the previous team lap record at the circuit by a full 2 seconds, and data suggests the car is capable of a further reduction in lap time. We estimate the car should be capable of a 2:26 on the 300 layout. Based on previous meetings, that would be sufficient for a Class D pole in Road Sports and a competitive top 3 qualification in Hot Hatch.

While 116 Trophy is now very full, there is still reasonable availability in Road Sports for interested drivers. Its an excellent introduction to multiclass endurance racing so
get in touch if you think you are the driver who can bring the pace to match the car
